Boomer is an imaginary friend who debuted in season 5.
Appearance[]
Boomer is a blueish boombox with a handle, antenna, two radio dials as eyes and a cassette box for a mouth, among other typical boombox features. He has thin, black arms and legs and wears purple checkered slip-on shoes and a white glove on his right hand.
History[]
Boomer first appeared in the episode "Ticket to Rod". The Tune, a popular radio station known for playing show tunes, was holding a contest where a chime would be played during one of the songs and whoever heard it had to immediately call the station to redeem their prize, two tickets to the premiere of Rod Tango's newest movie, with the chance to meet Rod Tango himself. Mac and Bloo plan a party and invite Boomer, whose name Bloo can never get right, in order to obtain some source to the radio station. Mac and Bloo listen for the chime for hours until Mac eventually has to head home, but Bloo continues listening nonstop until the next afternoon. Frankie, who took Bloo's place while he was in the bathroom, calls the station, answers a quiz question, and wins the tickets. Unfortunately for Bloo, Frankie wants to go see the premiere because she called the station; Boomer wants to go as well since he was a major part of them being won. Eventually, Mr. Herriman confiscates the tickets and holds another contest in order to win them back. Boomer ends up winning the contest, and he and Madame Foster end up going to the premiere. Bloo ends up sneaking in, and when Rod tells everyone that someone snuck in, Bloo tries making Boomer the one to blame, to no avail.
Boomer has appeared in a few episodes since then. In "Bad Dare Day", Bloo is dared to unplug the TV in the playroom. Bloo unplugs the TV and is immediately chased down by Boomer, Fluffer Nutter, and Sunset Junction, who had been playing a game on that TV for nine hours straight.
In "Fools and Regulations", after realizing that The Unknown Friend might not be the best entertainment, Mr. Herriman lets Boomer distract the guests while he and Frankie look for Bloo.
